Adding My First Piece of Art to the Walls

, ,

The first items I put on my walls were these stunning Asian panels. I found them on Facebook Marketplace last year and immediately knew they were something special. I drove two hours in heavy traffic to pick them up, and when I finally saw them in person, the photos hadn’t even come close to capturing their beauty.

Each panel is framed in bamboo, adding a natural, earthy texture that pairs perfectly with the hand-painted artwork. The scenes are delicate and detailed, and the soft greens and warm creams within the paintings complement my apartment’s color scheme exactly. These panels didn’t just match my aesthetic—they defined it. They became the heart of my space, and everything else in my studio revolves around their presence.

Originally, I had them displayed above my bed, but eventually decided to refresh that area. Living in a studio with lots of wall space meant I had options, but I had to be intentional—once these panels go up, they’re not coming down easily. Each one is mounted with individual hooks that don’t align perfectly, so hanging them is a bit of a project.

To make sure everything was just right, I measured each panel individually and used thumb tacks to test the alignment before committing to a nail. It took some time and patience, but I finally got them all lined up evenly.

Now, every time I look at them, I feel a sense of peace and tranquility. They bring character, color, and calm to my home—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
